A three course meal for a family of four with tea, coffee, beer, and Coca-Cola costs on average £44.15
Beautiful and well-priced: Portugal beats even Spain as a cost-effective holiday destination :)
Great for those going to hibernate over winter.

A three-course meal for a family of four with tea, coffee, beer, and Coca-Cola costs £44.15, while you would have to pay £114.65 (two-and-a-half times more) if you were on holiday in Italy and italy is not the most Motorhome friendly place and in the South the roads and drivers can be somewhat poor

Even Spain, a firm favorite with Uk and Irish holidaymakers for years, could not compete with Portugal on price with the same meal costing £53.51 or 17.5 per cent more.

Debt-ridden Greece charged £55.40 – 26 per cent less than a year ago. In France the bill was £69.09 and in Florida £71.06.

The Post Office Holiday Barometer survey compared costs at six of the top resorts, including Torremolinos in Spain and Albufeira on the Algarve. Though some surveys will put Spain as the cheapest, with the cost of eating out down 50% compared with five years ago, according to one survey.

Families planning a break during 2013  school holidays will find that there’s intense competition to attract British and Irish holidaymakers. Portugal is now a lot cheaper than its neighbour Spain which will surprise a lot of people.

Hard-pressed Greece is not far behind when it comes to paying for a meal out. Yet it still cannot compete with Portugal on price.

Hopefully the current rate on the Euro against the pound of 1.16 will rise again towards were it was last year 2012 to around 1.25 peak

holidaymakers should look at costs of food and drink before choosing a destination.
